City Tech Continuing Education and Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) are partnering to provide free Direct Support Professional training for English Language Learners. The Direct Support Professional training prepares students to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.

 

Program Highlights

  • Classes begin January 2022

  • Online and in-person classes and support

  • 13-weeks training and ESL instruction

  • Monday - Friday 

  • Between 9am - 2:30pm

  • 19 hours a week

  • Job placement assistance

  • Earn national industry certifications in:

  • Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention

  • CPR and First Aid

  • Approved Medication Administration Personnel

BEOC Eligibility Requirements

  • 18 years old and up or 17 years old with a high school diploma

  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or refugee

  • Be a resident of New York State for at least one year

  • Have a high school diploma, GED orHSE/TASC diploma (U.S. or foreign) 

  • Have low to moderate income

  • All classes are taught in English. ESL classes provide help to students in achieving success during training and on the job.
