This two-part online ourse builds on the Intro to Data Literacy course and provides a deep dive into data analytics process. Through a projects-based approach, students will learn to unpack data and create visualizations that reveal a pattern. The course focuses on the collection, cleaning and analysis of data using Excel, SQL, and Tableau. By the end of the course, participants will be able to process raw data, anticipate the market and make informed decisions
Part One: Data Analytics
In the first 36 hours of this course students will explore the history of data science, use probability, linear algebra, and Calculus in combination with Python. Key topics will include data basics, SQL and datasets, big data manage-ment and cloud computing.
Part Two: Visualization
The second half of this class will focus on using data to create visualizations that reveal underlying patterns and stories. Students will select an area of study and create independent projects. In class learning will include:
- Creating data visualizations with Tableau
- Telling data-driven stories
- Effective visualizations that reveal the story
- Harvesting information from stacks of data
- Compelling presentations and reports
